Arm Lift (Brachioplasty)

Loose skin on the upper arms does not respond to exercise. An arm lift removes that excess skin and tightens the contour from the elbow to the underarm.

About the Procedure

What to expect with your arm lift (brachioplasty).

An arm lift, or brachioplasty, removes the loose, hanging skin between the elbow and the underarm that exercise cannot correct. This is one of the most common concerns I hear from patients after significant weight loss and from women in their 40s, 50s, and 60s who have noticed the skin in that area becoming looser over time.

The incision runs along the inside of the upper arm, placed where it is least visible when your arm is at your side. I take incision placement seriously and plan it carefully so the scar sits in as discreet a location as possible.

Liposuction is commonly performed at the same time to refine the overall arm contour. For patients having a Mommy Makeover, an arm lift can be added to the procedure if the anatomy and surgery length allow.

Recovery is typically 2 weeks before returning to non-physical work, with full activity cleared around 6 weeks.

Key Benefits

  • Removes loose underarm skin that exercise cannot correct
  • Incision placed for minimal visibility
  • Often combined with liposuction for a complete result
  • Can be added to a Mommy Makeover
  • 2-week recovery for most patients
