You do not have to be in Houston to get started.
Many of my patients travel from outside the Houston area to see me — from across the US, from Puerto Rico, Canada, and beyond. Distance has never been a reason not to move forward. We have done this enough times that the process is clear, well-organized, and straightforward. Here is exactly how it works in 3 simple steps.
The first step is a virtual consultation. You fill out your health history and send photos of the areas you want to address ahead of time, so I can review everything before we meet. We connect through a HIPAA-compliant video platform — your privacy is protected throughout.
When we meet, I will walk you through the procedures that make sense for your specific anatomy and goals, answer every question you have, and put together a treatment plan together. You will receive a written quote after your consultation that is valid for 6 months.
Virtual consultations are available for patients anywhere in the US and internationally.
Once you decide to move forward, my patient coordinator will send you your pre-op requirements. Most of your labs and pre-operative clearances can be completed with your local doctor at home before you travel. We will tell you exactly what you need and make the process as straightforward as possible.
Plan to arrive in Houston 2 to 3 days before your surgery date. This gives us time for your in-person pre-op visit, where I will see you in person, review your labs, and finalize the surgical plan together.
All surgeries are performed at Memorial Surgical Solutions in Houston, a fully accredited outpatient surgical facility. Surgery is same-day — you arrive in the morning and go to your recovery accommodation the same afternoon.
The details that matter.
How long do you need to stay?
This depends on where you are coming from.
If you live within about 2 hours of Houston, most patients are able to drive home the same day after surgery or the following morning.
If you are 4 to 6 hours away, plan to stay in Houston 1 to 2 days, then return home before coming back for your follow-up appointment about a week later.
If you are flying in from elsewhere in the US or internationally, plan to stay in Houston for approximately one week. I will see you in the office around day 6 after surgery — depending on which day you had surgery, since I operate on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Fridays and see post-op patients on Mondays and Thursdays. Once I clear you at that appointment, you are ready to return home.
Your follow-up after you return home
After your first in-person post-op visit, all remaining follow-up appointments can be completed virtually. We stay in close contact throughout your recovery and are available to answer questions as you heal.
Do you need someone with you?
Yes. You need one adult with you during your stay in Houston. It does not have to be a medical professional — a spouse, friend, family member, or adult child is all you need. With the drainless technique, for example, there are no tubes to manage, so recovery is straightforward. If you are traveling alone and need support, we are happy to recommend recovery homes in the Houston area where you can stay and have help.
Where to stay in Houston?
My practice is in River Oaks at 4295 San Felipe St, Suite 350, Houston, TX 77027. Surgery is performed at Memorial Surgical Solutions at 10504 Katy Fwy, Houston, TX 77043. I recommend staying close to the surgical center or River Oaks area for easy access to both locations. My patient coordinator can provide specific hotel recommendations when you book your surgery.
