Many factors contribute to facial aging, including genetics, lifestyle, and sun exposure. While the effects of facial aging slowly develop over time, some of the first signs are a loss of fullness in different areas of the face and the development of facial lines from repetitive movements and expressions.
For many people, these signs of facial aging are unwelcome and have a negative impact on their self-esteem. Fortunately, a skilled aesthetician can perform in-office injectable procedures to reduce these signs of aging. Resilient Hyaluronic Acid (RHA) fillers are one of the most recent innovations to reduce fine lines and wrinkles to reduce the appearance of facial aging, all while providing a more natural look. Read on to learn more about RHA in Houston.
Hyaluronic acid is a natural substance produced by the body that provides moisture, volume, and structure to your skin. The body produces less of the acid as you age, and the decreased production results in sagging skin, fine lines, and wrinkles.
RHA fillers improve the appearance of dynamic wrinkles and folds, including lines created by squinting, frowning, laughing, and talking. RHA is made with a gentle manufacturing process, making it more like the natural hyaluronic acid produced by the body, and resulting in a more natural look because it adapts to your facial movement.
There are three different types of filler, each formulated to treat different types of lines and wrinkles and different areas of the face:
Your aesthetician will determine which formulas are best suited to treat your areas of concern when you seek out RHA injections in Houston.
You are a good candidate for RHA if you are 22 years or older and have moderate-to-severe facial wrinkles. You will receive the RHA filler injections at our office and the process takes about 25 to 30 minutes to complete. Our team will listen to your concerns to assess the appropriate amount and the location for RHA injections.
The injections contain lidocaine which will numb the targeted area as it is injected below the skin’s surface. If you are particularly sensitive, we can apply a topical numbing cream before the procedure. After the injections, we may gently massage your face to disperse the filler. You can expect to see results almost immediately after.
Very little recovery time is required if you receive RHA fillers in our Houston office. Most patients return to normal activity levels immediately after the procedure, although we may recommend avoiding intense physical activity for 24 to 48 hours to reduce the risk of bruising and swelling.
You might notice that treated areas appear overfilled with the substance immediately after the treatment but this should improve within hours. Additionally, numbing may last for a short period of time after the procedure. You can use topical icing and massage to ease most after-effects.
If your initial injections do not result in your desired results, we will assess whether additional injections are needed in the following weeks. Otherwise, RHA is designed to be longer-lasting than other fillers and has been shown to remain effective for up to 15 months.
