AbobotulinumtoxinA is an acetylcholine release inhibitor that blocks the signals that cause muscle contractions, temporarily preventing specific muscle movements to relax and correct frown lines.
As a prescription wrinkle reducer, Dysport® must be administered by a licensed healthcare professional, such as Dr. Olivier Deigni and his highly trained staff. Dysport® is a neuromodulator that restricts certain muscle contractions and is used for both medical and cosmetic purposes. Glabellar lines, or frown lines between the eyebrows, result when your muscles remain contracted even when you are not frowning or squinting. By relaxing these muscles, Dysport® significantly reduces the depth of the creases, and for some patients, removes their creases entirely.
Its formulation is less concentrated than other botulinum toxin injectables, allowing it to spread out more easily and evenly across targeted areas, resulting in a more natural look without appearing “frozen” and “unmovable.”
However, the lower concentration does not mean it is less effective. In fact, Dysport® may last longer than other formulations. In patient studies, 95 percent of participants felt more confident and attractive after treatment, and 98 percent said they would receive Dysport® again. Additionally, 100 percent of patients were satisfied after two treatments spaced six months apart.
Dysport® is also used medically to treat excessive sweating (hyperhidrosis) in the armpits and palms. The botulinum toxin blocks the production of chemicals that activate your sweat glands. For patients using Dysport® for hyperhidrosis, the effects can last three to six months, with subsequent treatments often producing longer-lasting results.

Dysport® treatments typically take ten to twenty minutes for the 5-point treatment targeting glabellar wrinkles, and slightly longer for forehead wrinkles or crow’s feet. Small injections are placed into each of the main points between and above your eyebrows to smoothen worry lines.
The treatment is performed in our office, making it easy for you to fit an appointment into your schedule. After the procedure, you may return to your usual activities, as there is no downtime needed for recovery.
Side effects are rare, but you might experience temporary pain at the injection sites, headaches, or respiratory tract irritation, such as discomfort in the nose or throat. Some patients have also reported symptoms in the eyes, including eyelid swelling. If you notice any bruising, makeup can be used to conceal it. However, the bruise will often fade quickly.
Within 24 hours of treatment, you may start to see your glabellar wrinkles slowly fade. Over the next two to four days, you will continue to see results, with full results typically appearing after two weeks. You will still be able to make natural facial expressions, but you can feel more confident knowing that your worry and frown lines are no longer detracting from your appearance. The reduction of these wrinkles and creases may also give your face a more youthful appearance.
Most patients choose to receive a Dysport® treatment about every three to four months to maintain their results. Each treatment provides similar results to the previous one.
